You know, it was just another presidential election.

  1. You’re right, at least for you and me. I couldn’t vote for either candidate, and we won’t go into that. But for many millions, this election represented something that they probably never believed they’d see. I think it is a landmark event in US and perhaps world history. I am not optimistic for Obama’s reign, though, as it will be as full of constitutional violations as Bush’s was. Unless, of course, Obama does not deliver on his campaign promises.

    Another thought: As much as the US is decried for being a racist country, how many other (reasonably free) countries have elected a leader of a racial minority? I don’t think there are many. Imagine the thought of Japan electing a European, what a joke. Imagine an Hispanic person elected in Germany.

    Despite my disgust in the US government, it is still the great land of opportunity for all races.

    One more thought: there was a lot of pre-election furor over the fact that 60% of white folks were not going to place their vote for Obama, supposedly meaning that at least 10% of US citizens were choosing their candidate out of racism. I guess that means 49% of black voters are racist.
